Welcome To Pasco County

Pasco County is part of the Tampa Bay area of West Central Florida, one of the fastest growing areas in the southeastern United States. It borders the northern boundary of both Pinellas and Hillsborough counties, the major Tampa Bay population centers.

As more and more visitors discover each year, a trip to Pasco County - the southernmost star of Florida's Nature Coast - is always a memorable event. With sunny days and brilliant blue skies for which Florida is famous, Pasco County offers the perfect climate and countless options for exploring many true beauties of the Sunshine State - lazy trips down winding, shady rivers, world-class fishing in emerald waters and breathtaking sunsets from more than 20 miles of Gulf Coast shoreline.

Without a doubt, Pasco County's natural attractions make any visit a special event. However, thanks to an endless stream of bronc-bustin' rodeos, colorful Native American celebrations, foot-stompin' music festivals and the annual Fall Flapjack Festival, your visit to Pasco County is likely to be much more "eventful" than you might have imagined.

Pasco County is home to many wonderful communities, including Land O’Lakes, Wesley Chapel, Dade City and San Antonio.

Land O’ Lakes

Nestled among more than one hundred spectacular lakes, Land O' Lakes holds true to its name. The beautiful community provides a perfect blend of leisurely, country living with all the convenience and necessities usually found in a metropolitan area. Land O' Lakes is situated in the heart of Pasco County, and home to major shopping centers complete with supermarkets, national chain stores and numerous service and specialty stores.

Land O' Lakes, an unincorporated community, is located north of Tampa on Highway 41, in sub-tropical central Florida. It's a choice suburb of the Tampa Metropolitan area, offering city workers and their families an escape to clean country living.

There are several private air fields in the area and the world famous Tampa International Airport is just 25 minutes away. Land O' Lakes is served industrially by the Seaboard Coastline Railroad.

Education plays a major role in the quality of life in Land O' Lakes. The area boasts a large modern high school, which offers academic and vocational programs on a 100 acre campus with an activity center and lighted athletic park. There are three elementary schools, a modern junior high school, and other private schools as well. Other educational opportunities include the University of South Florida, 15 minutes away; St. Leo College, 16 minutes away; the University of Tampa, 25 minutes away; Pasco-Hernando Community College, located in town; and Hillsborough Community College, 20 minutes away.

Wesley Chapel

Rising among the east Pasco countryside, Wesley Chapel is a community in progress.

Citrus fields and pasturelands have given way to upscale neighborhoods with beautiful homes of Tampa executives and their families, who have chosen this quiet suburban lifestyle. New shopping centers continue to appear, catering to these suburban pioneers.

Wesley Chapel's ever-changing landscape attests to its popularity.

With a projected growth of 90% by 2005, currently Wesley Chapel is home to 22,000 residents. It is bordered on the east by Zephyrhills with a population of 9,098 and Land O' Lakes with a population of 16,000.

This bustling area just north of Tampa conveniently accessible from Interstate 75, extends along SR 54 (Now Wesley Chapel Boulevard) from 3.3 miles west of the I-75 intersection to a few miles east of CR 577, and to County Line Rd. on the South.

Wesley Chapel's convenient location provides access to many of Tampa's popular attractions such as Busch Gardens, The Florida Aquarium, and Lowry Park Zoo. Sports fans can enjoy professional sports throughout the year with just a short drive to the Tampa venues and see The Tampa Bay Buccaneers for football, The Tampa Bay Lightning for hockey, The Mutiny for soccer and the Devil Rays for baseball. Even Orlando with world famous Disney World, Universal Studios and many other tourist favorites is only 90 miles away.

Award winning Tampa International Airport is easily accessible by I-75 and I-275 in approximately 30 minutes. Locally the Top of Tampa Airport offers easy air access for private planes.

Its proximity to all the cultural amenities of a metropolitan area, such as Ruth Eckerd Hall, The Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center and the many galleries and theatres, makes Wesley Chapel an attractive homestead choice for many urban families who prefer to relocate "north".

Dade City

Incorporated in 1998, Dade City is located in the beautiful rolling hills of Eastern Pasco County. The Dade City area incorporates San Antonio, Darby, St. Leo, St. Joe, Lacoochee, Trilby, and Ridge Manor. Dade City's main focal point is the original Pasco County Courthouse located in the heart of downtown . The Courthouse, built in 1909, is still used today to house county offices.

Easily accessible by rail, in 1990 Dade City became the first new addition to the Amtrak schedule in seven years. After two years of persistence by city officials, Amtrak agreed to add Dade City. Readership figures for the first year indicate 5,070 passengers from Dade City.

Dade City schools have a total student population of 5,771 students. The schools within it's district have received accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Pasco County is the only school district in the Tampa Bay area to have earned this recognition.

Dade City is a recognized Main Street Community and through its completed Streetscape Plan has made the city one to be proud of. With all of the fine eateries and shops, it has become very popular with local tourists. It's a nice change of pace from the hustle and bustle of the large towns.

The Withlacoochee State Trail is also one of the area's great assets. The Trail is a 47 mile linear park starting in Citrus Springs in Citrus County and ending just north of Dade City. The old Trilby railroad yard is the site of the Welcome/Visitors Station which is in phase two of the park. The trail is a wonderful place for hiking, jogging, skating, bike riding ,or horseback riding.

There are many community organizations in which an individual could become involved. These organizations are a very important addition to our community. Their involvement in our day to day life is just another example of the high quality of life in Dade City.

Dade City is 15 minutes from the renowned Saddle Brook Resort, with golfing, tennis, swimming, convention facilities, and all the amenities. For the sports-minded, there are acres of unspoiled lands for hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and the like. There are numerous golf courses, tennis courts, and parks with various courts.

Dade City is quite unique. It still has that slow southern charm, friendly people ready to lend a helping hand, books you can read at leisure in the recently renovated library, annual spring and fall sidewalk sales, leisurely strolls through antique shops, museums, and classes in almost anything from antiques to yoga at the college or adult education programs... all of this and much more can be found in Dade City.

San Antonio

A quaint community with deep roots in the past and strong agricultural ties, San Antonio has miles of orange trees and pasture lands. The central role played by the Catholic church in the life of the community and the deep commitment to agriculture by generations of residents are, like San Antonio's town square, reminders of what it’s founder, Judge Dunne envisioned in 1882.

Home to the annual Rattlesnake Festival, San Antonio is filled with both history and culture.  San Antonio is also home to some of the most beautiful equestrian homes and communities in Pasco County.
